Installation and Mounting Problems
My draperies are hitting the trim, window handle, or some other obstacle.
You may need to remount your drapes further away from the surface that is being hit or rubbed. In some cases you will need to install plastic bracket spacers or extension brackets to provide additional clearance. If your draperies are hitting a window crank, you may need to replace the window crank with a smaller T-handle window crank.
Traversing Problems
When I pull on the cord to open or close my drapes, it hangs up, stops, is hard to pull or doesn’t work at all.
These issues can be caused by a number of different problems. The first thing to check are the mounting brackets. If the brackets are loose or unevenly mounted, it could cause the traverse rod not to operate correctly.
Next, check the operating cord. If the cord is wearing out or fraying, it won’t pull through the glides or carriers easily, causing a hang-up. If the cord is wearing or fraying, it’s time to replace it.
Lastly, there could be something inside the track obstructing the movement of the drapes. Check for any broken carriers or glides that may have broken off and gotten stuck.
The wand won’t stay on my traverse rod.
This could be a couple different problems. Look to see if the place on the traverse rod where the wand hangs is intact. If the eyelet on the rod is broken or damaged, the carrier will need to be replaced.
If the wand itself is broken, missing or has a damaged tip, you can replace the wand. Be sure that the tip of the new wand is compatible with the place it attaches to on the traverse rod.
The cord on my traverse rod is no longer held down taut.
A tension device or tensioner will fix this problem. Most tensioners open so that you can easily insert the cord and then attach the tensioner to the wall or floor.
My string is broken and/or pulled out of my traverse rod.
If the string is broken, it’s time to replace it. Please follow these measuring instructions to select the correct thickness of your string. If the string has pulled out the traverse rod, check to see if it is broken or frayed. If so, replace it. If it is not broken, you may be able to reinsert it. It may have just come untied from the rod.
