How to Install a Continuous Bead Chain Loop on a Common Roller Shade Clutch

Introduction

A continuous bead chain loop can break or sometimes you need to replace the clutch on your roller shade. In either instance, the bead chain loop has to be replaced. These instructions illustrate the process of changing a continuous bead chain loop in two different styles of common roller shade clutches.

Step 1 – After the clutch is removed from the shade, place the clutch in the palm of your hand and insert the chain loop through the guide and over the drive post.


Step 2 – Place the chain in the cogwheel and pull it rotate it through.

  • Once the chain has entered into the grooves of the clutch, pull on the chain to completely engage the loop into the grooves of the clutch.

Step 3 – Test the chain.

  • Test the chain by pulling on either end to make sure the chain is operating the clutch smoothly.

Step 4 – For this style of clutch, depress the retainer post and push the gear out enough to expose it.


Step 5 – Place the chain in the gear and push the clutch back together.
